March running

Well here is a look at the month of March. I ran 66 miles total, which is less than last month by a mile. I am a little disappointed, but after I twisted my knee cleaning the bathroom Toilet (don't ask) I had to take a week off so that hurt. So I'm hoping if I can stay injury free this month my mileage will increase along with my half marathon training plan. Right now in order to reach my goal of 1,000 miles +++ I would have to run 88 miles per remaining 9 months. We will see how that pans out. Here are some of my favorite quotes from this month's "Runner's Book of Daily Inspiration" by Kevin Nelson.

March 5
If you want to be a better runner, you've got to run more. It's as simple as that.- Tom Fleming, running coach. Kevin wrote "Not faster, not harder, not too much, not straining. But more.

March 19
"Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." satchel Paige

Kevin wrote " when you run you look, feel, and act younger than your years. But ironically, you don't mind growing old because it often. Makes you more competitive in races. It's a great sport isn't it?"

I totally agree with this statement and have said many of times that the only way I'll qualify for Boston is to run until I'm 70 and they'll let me in.

March 23
" in every competition there's a point when somebody wins and somebody loses. The loser will always settle. He'll say, 'this is all I can do'. A winner always finds a way."- Dan O'Brien. Dan also is quoted on this day saying " the decathlon is like life... You have good events and bad events, good days and bad days, and you have to get through them all".

I liked both sets of these quotes a lot. Moving onto April- wow the months are flying by.
